The first lion's head knocker was installed circa 1766 and was made in cast iron. Subsequently it was replaced with a brass knocker, which was painted black to resemble its original. The images of the thousands of historical figures that have helped to shape the world we live in, using this very knocker are beyond our imagination Made half its original size 7.5” x 4”, makes the perfect gift for weddings and housewarmings more
	The Sanctuary knocker from the north door of the cathedral is made in the form of a lion's head. It is a fine piece of Normanesque work and is thought to date from 1154. Fugitives from the law were allowed to take sanctuary and confess their crimes before being allowed to leave the country without fear of arrest more		Still here after 25 years!
