Lacquered door knobs and other internal door furniture should be cleaned with warm soapy water and the occasional use of a good quality wax polish is also recommended.

Lacquered external fittings found on door handles, door knockers and other door furniture can be dramatically affected by environmental conditions. A regular cleaning with a good wax polish is recommended.

Non-lacquered brass and bronzes should be given regular polishing with good quality metal polish.

Plated finishes on door furniture would benefit from the occasional use of chrome cleaner, followed by a wipe with a cloth, impregnated with light oil.
